Lichfield Arts proudly presented Damien Barber’s The Lock In at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre
Lichfield Arts proudly presented Damien Barber’s The Lock In at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre on Saturday 17th November. This amazing show of traditional and modern dance took the breath away of an enthusiastic audience and got much praise such as the quotes below.
An ‘extravaganza’ dance show was offered us last Saturday night by The Lock In Company. Modern and traditional English dances were present on stage. Street dancers, clog-dancers, sword or ‘rapper’ dancers, Morris dancers, musicians and many others performed. Around twenty artists performed with precision and accuracy. A wonderful show brilliantly mixed different types of art. Bravo.
Saturday was a fantastic evening. ‘The Lock In‘ was a spectacular show full of energy and breath-taking dance moves. The whole atmosphere was enhanced by the Morris dancing outside prior to the show.
Nonstop entertainment from start to finish – a thoroughly enjoyable performance
Yes, a very enjoyable show and, having seen “Time Gentlemen Please” earlier in the year, a much improved and more fast moving version. My only criticism being that, if you aren’t involved with dance, then it might have been a little difficult to follow what it was all about unless you’d forked out for a programme. However, it was carried by some excellent dancing not only on stage but also outside on the street from local and not-so-local Morris teams prior to the performance. Interesting to see how “the rhythm of the dance” remains pretty much the same from one generation to the next.
