‘I See Jazz!’ community outreach project

3D Art Installation will be over their heads at the Guildhall

‘I See Jazz!’ is an art project which has taken designs from 250 schoolchildren from Lichfield, Cannock, Rugeley and Burntwood which will be suspended above the audience at the Blues and Jazz Festival in June.

It comprises of a musical score stretching 95m with over 200 individually designed music notes zigzagging across the ceiling of the Guildhall.

Miranda Taylor-Lowen, visual artist, who coordinated the artwork with Lichfield Arts, said “Blues and Jazz music has a feeling of great movement, it can inspire and change emotions and I wanted to bring an element of visual movement to this particular art form”. The schoolchildren who have been involved with this project have learned about blues and jazz music which they have then interpreted from an audio experience to a visual dimension.

The installation can be seen during the Blues and Jazz Festival and following the event it will on view at the Lichfield Library from the 30th June to 7th July.
