Craobh Rua (pronounced Crave Ru-ah) play Irish Traditional Music from the heart. Belfast’s finest deliver a compelling celebration of Irish music and song. This is traditional Celtic fare at its finest, mixing rousing jigs, reels and polkas with tender ballads and airs. Their rich, acoustic sound is driven by uillean pipes, fiddle, whistles, the exciting banjo and mandolin playing of group founder Brian Connolly and the passionate vocals and guitar playing from Jim Rainey.
Regarded around the globe as true ambassadors of Irish Music, they are impeccable musicians with arrangements that are all their own and have been likened to bands from the first wave of the Irish folk revival of the sixties and seventies. Sell-out shows in the UK over the last 15 years have seen the band build up a large and loyal fan-base. Recent tours and festival shows across the world to delighted audiences have earned the band wide appreciation and recognition. They have released six albums to date.
