Jacqui Dankworth & Charlie Wood

Venue: Lichfield Guildhall

Sunday 19 November 2017: 8.00pm

Multi award winning vocalist, Jacqui Dankworth, is joined by her husband, acclaimed American pianist-vocalist, Charlie Wood, for a special concert of duets celebrating a century of song.

Inspired by some of the great musical partnerships, such as Ray Charles & Betty Carter, Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong, Duke Ellington & Billy Strayhorn, George & Ira Gershwin and Roberta Flack & Donny Hathaway – the concert will feature numbers including: Alone Together, Autumn In New York, It Don’t Mean a Thing, A Foggy Day, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face and You’ve Got a Friend.

Jacqui Dankworth, daughter of Dame Cleo Laine and Sir John Dankworth, is regarded as one of the UK’s finest jazz vocalists and although known primarily for this, Dankworth has been described as “one of our finest singers, regardless of category”.

Charlie Wood is a singer and keyboardist who covers all musical styles. He has toured with blues legend Albert King and worked with B.B. King, Georgie Fame and many others. Shows have included a live performance on BBC Radio 2’s “Friday Night Is Music Night” at Cheltenham Jazz Festival and numerous other concerts throughout the UK and Europe.
