About Fuse
Fuse is one of the largest free community arts festivals in the Midlands and is held each year in marquees in Beacon Park, Lichfield. The festival attracts many thousands of people to watch professional artists, participate in arts and crafts activities and to take part in performance opportunities. Fuse aims to provide access to the Arts for everyone regardless of their ability to pay.

In addition the festival has an outreach programme where professional facilitators engage with young people and their families in schools and community groups throughout Lichfield District in the weeks leading up to the festival proper. This results in many people being given the opportunity to perform in public for the first time.

The 2010 outreach project will be based on our theme 'Dance Your Socks Off!'. In partnership with Lichfield Garrick, Lichfield District Council, North Lichfield Initiative and North Lichfield Community & Learning Partnership we will be working with schools, community groups, dance groups and others to create a large, site specific, exciting and innovative contemporary dance piece to be performed at Fuse on Sunday 11 July 2010.

From now on we want dance to be an important aspect of Fuse.

If you are interested in being part of the project please get in touch.

We need sponsors...

Because Fuse is free and everyone wants to keep it that way we need a huge amount of financial support. We do get some grants and a lot of free help but we welcome sponsorship from commercial organisations. You can sponsor anything from a tent through to a recycling bin.

Please get in touch with Stuart Davies at Lichfield Arts for more details.

Visual arts events and activities at Fuse The Event in a Tent – Artists wanted

Lichfield Arts, organisers of Fuse, are inviting local artists to show their work to the public at 'Art in the Tent' which will be running again at this year's Fuse Festival and say there will be other visual arts activities for everyone to get involved in. 'Art in the Tent' was begun last year by Neil Davies, Lichfield Arts president, who died recently. This year Celia Houghton, Lichfield District Council Arts Development Officer, has kindly taken up the organisation of the exhibition which will be held as a tribute to Neil. Artists will be able to have hanging space within a designated area in a marquee for a small fee and will be asked to pay a commission charge on any works sold. For further information contact Celia Houghton on 01543-308224 or e-mail celia.houghton@lichfielddc.gov.uk

Other visual arts activities at Fuse will include the chance to have a go at making a 'Sock Monkey' with Judith Israel and her team or helping to create three giant dancing figures which will be displayed at the main entrance into the Fuse festival site.

Fuse Director, Tim Perks said “The organizing team for Fuse are delighted that Celia's involvement will mean the art exhibition can go ahead again this year. It is something Neil was passionate about and it is a great tribute to all his hard work.”

If you are interested in taking part in 'Art in the Tent' please contact Lichfield Arts on 01543 262223.
