Gary Stewart’s Graceland

Venue: Lichfield Guildhall

Friday 15 May 2020: 8.00pm

When talking about ground-breaking albums of the 1980s, Paul Simon’s Graceland album is one that must be spoken about. Taking on poetry written from a Western sensibility, and blending it with joyful, upbeat African music and grooves, Graceland went onto be one of the most successful albums of the decade, as well as being a return to form for Paul Simon, whose career since the end of Simon and Garfunkel had seen something of a downturn. Gary Stewart’s Graceland take on the album fusing the intricacies of the musicianship, with a deep sense of fun, joy, and a collective sense of humanity. You will hear hits such as You Can Call Me Al, the rock of The Boy in The Bubble and the deep beauty of Diamonds on the Soles of Her Shoes. We can guarantee that you will not leave the Guildhall without a smile.
