Kim Cypher ‘Love Kim x’ Album Tour
Currently creating quite a stir on the jazz scene, emerging as one of the UK’s most exciting saxophonists, vocalists and composers, Kim Cypher brings her brand new ‘Love Kim x’ album tour to Lichfield Arts Centre on Wednesday 4th December. This is the perfect opportunity to hear tracks from her new album performed ‘live’.
Inspired by the funkier side of jazz and having studied alongside US saxophonist Pee Wee Ellis and internationally acclaimed jazz saxophonist Andy Sheppard, Kim’s style of performance is best described as ‘funky saxophonist meets 1940′s jazz singer’. Kim performs an eclectic mix of music spanning many genres with a quirky, jazzy twist together with her own original material, all packaged up in a captivating performance and warm stage presence. Kim’s 2nd album ‘Love Kim x’ is a collection of inspired original music and quirky takes on some well-known classics all performed with great verve and style.
Kim’s highly successful debut album tour included sell-out shows across the UK in 2017/18 including Pizza Express ‘live’ Soho, The Pheasantry, The Stables Wavendon, Cheltenham International Jazz Festival, Bristol Jazz & Blues Festival plus many more. Kim’s new album tour kicked off on 8th February to a sell-out 200 audience, with special guest Pee Wee Ellis. The tour has since included sell-out shows at Toulouse Lautrec London, Tetbury Goods Shed, Toddington Village Hall plus many other great jazz venues including Pizza Express ‘live’ Birmingham, Annie’s Jazz Club in Southend and an official album launch at Pizza Express ‘live’ Soho.
Kim has performed in the UK and New York alongside some of the finest jazz musicians including David Newton (14 times winner of best pianist in The British Jazz Awards), Pee Wee Ellis (saxophonist and musical director with James Brown and Van Morrison), Clive Morton (long time sideman to Frank Sinatra and Jamie Cullum’s ex-tutor), Liane Carroll, Andy Sheppard, New York guitarist B.D. Lenz, cabaret star Anita Harris, with regular band personnel including Chris Cobbson (guitar) and Mike Green (double bass).
“Hats off to a true heart and soul performer.”
