Gordon Giltrap

Gordon Giltrap

Lichfield Guildhall – Saturday 9th April 2022, 8.00pm

This innovative guitarist is back out on the road performing many of his incredible songs with incredible arrangements in what promises to be an electrifying solo acoustic show. Expect to hear classics such as Heartsong and Lucifer’s Cage alongside new material from his latest album ‘The Last of England’.

Since starting his career in the late 1970s, the guitarist and composer Gordon Giltrap has ploughed his own musical furrow. As well as his work as a solo guitarist, and as a member of various bands, he has also worked with an amazing variety of musical talent, with names such as Cliff Richard, Rick Wakeman and Queen’s Brian May appearing on records with him.

His live shows run the gamut of musical styles, from folk and Celtic music, blues, elements of jazz and prog rock to sonic explorations using electric guitar, looping pedals and modern technology. His music paints vivid portraits as well as being daring, technically complicated and always musically lyrical. He was awarded the MBE in 2019 for services to Music and Charity, and his shows attract not just fans of guitar music, but fans of where minds are often boggled by the variety of sound one man and six strings can produce. Gordon Giltrap has performed at the Guildhall many times, and his shows, full of humour, sterling musicianship and bonhomie always prove popular.

We strongly recommend getting your tickets early to see one of the country’s best-loved solo guitarists in his natural environment, on the stage.

“One of an elite few who truly have become legendary in their field, in their own lifetime.” Brian May (Queen)
