Surjit Minhas
Operations Team, Administration Support

Surjit, what’s your role within Lichfield Arts and what does it involve?

As an Administration Assistant at Lichfield Arts recruited May 2025, I have been taken on to assist the

Operations Manager, in any and all general office task. This can range from sending out emails,

researching, sourcing and obtaining quotes for the cost of necessary equipment. Putting together audits

and creating related graphs to highlight promotional improvement strategies and to upsurge ticket sales

for events.

What drew you to get involved with Lichfield Arts?

I was looking for something new and very different to get involved with. Learn about how a charity

operates and the challenges (if any) it can come up against financially to enable funding events to bring

the local community together.

What’s your background or professional experience in the arts or community work?

Having worked in the public sector for the last 15 years and prior to that I was in the private sector

working in car dealerships. I realised I needed a change of direction and interest. My background comes

from the clerical field of over 30 years. I do not have any professional experience in the arts or

community work, but I am hoping to learn as much as possible through my current role.

What do you enjoy most about being part of Lichfield Arts?

Whilst my position with Lichfield Arts has only just begun, I look forward to coming into the office

wondering what is in store for me as each day can be very different. I enjoy being the office support

knowing that I am contributing to Lichfield Arts bringing the community together through engagement

via the trustees, volunteers, supporters, staff and artists.

What’s something you’re proud of contributing to Lichfield Arts?

I have joined Lichfield Arts at a very interesting time of the year with the FUSE Festival in process for July

2025. I am very pleased to be participating in assisting the Operations Team which gives me a great

sense of belonging and with which will come pride of being linked to Lichfield Arts.

What are you most excited about for the future of Lichfield Arts?

I look forward to seeing new and upcoming talent emerge of all genres, diversities, and culture,

incorporating its values of being relevant, inclusive, accessible, ambitious, authentic and impactful. I

believe Lichfield Arts can continue to achieve this due to its dynamic and ambitious attitude towards its

local community and surrounding areas.
