Aspire Community Band
What is Aspire?
Aspire is Lichfield Arts’ community music project, bringing people together to make music in a friendly, supportive and inclusive environment.
The project is designed to offer regular rehearsal opportunities, social connection and the chance to enjoy making music as part of a group — regardless of background or experience. As such, Aspire focuses on participation, confidence-building and shared enjoyment, rather than performance outcomes or technical excellence.
Who Aspire is for?
Aspire is open to people who:
- enjoy making music with others
- want a relaxed, welcoming rehearsal environment
- value social connection as much as musical progress
- are looking to be part of a supported, well-run group
How Aspire works
Aspire runs as a participation-led project within Lichfield Arts. This means:
- rehearsals and activity are coordinated as part of the charity’s programme
- safeguarding, policies and governance are held centrally by Lichfield Arts
- Aspire members are part of the wider Lichfield Arts community
This structure ensures Aspire is safe, inclusive and sustainable, while allowing participants to focus on enjoying the experience of making music together.
Aspires musical output is led by Musical Director Josh Clayton, who has a passion and great understanding of the importance of music within a community setting and the positive impact music has on the band’s members.
