Lichfield Arts Emerging Talent Programme
Dedicated to the memory of Brian Pretty, former president of Lichfield Arts, who played a pivotal role in the organisation and supporting young, local talent for over 40 years.
Lichfield Arts Emerging Talent Programme’s aim is to identify, mentor and provide opportunities for young, local emerging talent across all art forms.
Lichfield Arts does this by:
- Offering showcase opportunities including Introducing and Emerging Talent events at various venues, at our festivals and as part of our outreach projects.
- Open call-outs for talent, identifying talent in partnership with schools, colleges and other local organisations, running workshops and talent sessions and offering work experience opportunities.
- Offering small financial awards from Lichfield Arts Wildfire Fund to support next steps.
- Recommend local talent to others to create more opportunities for participants.

Saturday 5th April 2025 – Introducing Night, Lichfield Guildhall
Come and support a fantastic evening of young talent.
Following Lichfield Arts recent callout for young creatives Lichfield Arts are giving this opportunity to new talent to showcase their work. This will be a diverse evening featuring bands, solo performers and film.

Eclipsia, a film by Alfie Johnson
Alfie Johnson, 20, is a filmmaking student at Nottingham Trent University, was born in Lichfield and has been making films since he was 8. He runs Alfonzo’s Pictures, a YouTube channel showcasing his passion for storytelling, bringing creative and cinematic visions to life through compelling narratives and dynamic filmmaking.
Nandini Nayar
Nandini Nayar is a 19 year old singer/songwriter, live performer and recording artist from Birmingham. She has released over 7 singles on all streaming platforms, working alongside her producer over the last 3 years and has performed at various different gigs, showcases, open mics and events in many venues.
Jasmine Blakeway
Jasmine Blakeway is a singer/songwriter from Birmingham, her music speaks of nature, humanity and expressions of the soul through Neo soul, Jazz and indie influences: “Ultimately I want to create tracks that speak candidly about the present living world. Writing about the beautiful ordinary experiences we share and how they shape us.”
Step Out
Formed in the early 20s, the decade of the guitar music return, new and aspiring ‘Step Out’ are pushing guitar music back into the history books. Sounding like Fontaines DC, Wunderhorse, The Snuts, Royston Club and The Smiths, Step Out are releasing new music to the world to get their name out there.

Recent Emerging Talent events
Monday 25th November 2024 – Introducing Night in partnership with South Staffordshire College supported by Lichfield Garrick.
Year 2 Level 3 music students performed. The night included bands, duos and solo performers. One student, Jack Gamble was given an Emerging Talent Wildfire Award in recognition of his ability and to support him in his music endeavours.
The line up featured Higgy, J4CKG (Jack Gamble), Woodster, Pigeons, Fire Exit, Faucet van Gough and The Yodels.

Saturday 2nd November 2024 – Emerging Talent Night
Eighteen young people performed in four bands in Lichfield Guildhall, with an exciting line up of: The AM’S, L’Exterior D’Lidl, The Crash, Diverted Traffic

Friday 12th July 2024 – Lichfield Fuse Festival 24 Introducing Night
Selected bands from Lichfield’s Friary and King Edward’s schools performed. Line up: The AM’S, The Crash, L’Exterior D’Lidl, Eddies Jazz, Diverted Traffic, Polar Opposites
“I Just wanted to thank you for choosing H and The Crash to perform on the newcomer stage. H had an amazing time and all his friends and family had a great time watching them and the other acts. “Lichfield Arts has always supported young talent. Some of my first experiences performing live in various bands to an audience were at lichfield Arts Centre back in the 1980s. This probably ignited my interest in Lichfield Arts which began in earnest in the early 2000s helping to organise the Fuse Festival and then becoming a trustee. I worked in various roles and now want to put something back supporting our current young, local talent”
