Could you be our treasurer?
Are you passionate about the arts and skilled in financial management? Lichfield Arts is looking for a voluntary Treasurer to help support our organisation’s financial health. This is a non-trustee role, making it an ideal opportunity for someone who wants to contribute their expertise without the formal responsibilities of a board position.
As Treasurer, you will play a key role in overseeing and maintaining our financial records, ensuring the smooth running of our organisation. You will work closely with the board and the operations team to provide financial guidance, helping us continue our work in the community.
Main Responsibilities
- Governance: conduct financial assessments, ensure compliance with regulations and provide insights on the financial implications of strategic decisions.
- Risk management: ensure robust financial controls, procedures and record keeping; monitor cash flow and budget adherence, ensuring adequate funds are available to meet obligations including payroll and operational expenses.
- Budgeting: lead the preparation and management of annual budgets and forecasts, aligning financial resources with organisational goals.
- Financial reporting: close down the accounts at month end, present monthly, clear financial reports to the trustee board and the annual general meeting.
- Payments: make occasional BACS payments, noting that most are made by other staff.
- Compliance: manage the organisation’s VAT scheme (including making quarterly VAT returns), make quarterly PAYE payments to HMRC and make annual returns to the Charity Commission.
- Annual accounts: liaise with our external accountants as needed for the generation of annual accounts.

We’re seeking someone with:
- A background in finance, bookkeeping, or accounting
- Strong organisational and numerical skills
- Familiarity with financial software (e.g., Xero, or similar)
- A commitment to Lichfield Arts’ values and mission
- The ability to dedicate a few hours per month to the role
Why Volunteer with Us?
